As a nonprofit, non-governmental organization, PAT has accomplished a lot since 1997 with the participation of our members and supporters toward our mission:
Working for a bicycle and pedestrian friendly transportation system in our Prescott, Arizona community.
PAT's strength comes from our members and supporters. If you'd like to help out, please go to our Take Part page to learn how to become a volunteer and engage with our latest activities.
Meet our team:
President: Jim Knaup
Jim Knaup came to Prescott in 1975 to attend Prescott College, which had recently moved to the basement of the Hassayampa Hotel. He fell in love with the city and has been one of its best champions ever since. Besides helming PAT, Jim serves on the City of Prescott's Pedestrian, Bicycle, and Traffic Advisory Committee (PBTAC). He has a passion for two-wheeled machines, especially vintage bicycles and European motorcycles. He owns both Ironclad Bicycles at 710 White Spar Rd. and Powersports Outlet at 145 N. Montezuma. You can catch him at one or the other location most days of the week, that is if he isn't attending transportation meetings or holding down PAT's booth at local events.
Vice-president: Sue Knaup
Sue Knaup is the founder and executive director of One Street, an international nonprofit based here in Prescott that serves bicycle, community, and environmental nonprofits around the world: www.onestreet.org.
Sue moved to Prescott in 1982. Even before that, since the 1970s, Sue has worked for and helped lead nonprofits for animal rights, environment, special populations, and bicycle advocacy. This includes helping to found Prescott Alternative Transportation. She also started and ran Ironclad Bicycles for 13 years before handing it over to her husband Jim in 2004. Sue taught a course for five years at Prescott College on social change with bicycles. Her specialty is coaching activists on effective campaign planning.
